With the new update you can also record videos with effects! Oh, and you don't put 'you break it, you buy it' into your rental agreement. Believe me, I did it at my own wedding, and it was a pain in the ass, even though I had it set up to be as self-sufficient as possible. But most importantly, you have to set it up and manage it yourself, when you should be attending to your guests and having fun. A $700 setup will work, but it will have lower quality photos, no prints, a less intuitive interface, and no sharing options. You can duplicate my setup for about $3000 + $2-300 per event in expenses/expendibles. I'm also on site to help people through the process and to make adjustments as necessary (such as repositioning the camera to accommodate children). I use an iPad to allow guests to share images instantly to Instagram, etc., and I host the photos online for guests to view and print the photos after the event. Backdrops (because photos against a wall often look like passport photos) run about $200 each, and many clients want customized backgrounds. That also allows for unlimited high-quality prints to be made throughout the night. I use a touchscreen laptop to run the camera, so guests just touch the screen to take a picture. My lighting is also basic, but it's better than a $100 flash would provide. A $100 camera won't have Live View, so guests can't see themselves before taking a picture.
